Las Teresitas beach Tenerife
The beaches of the Canary Islands are undoubtedly interesting and beautiful. It would be challenging to choose among them. If we had to rank them, Las Teresitas Beach would be in the top ten since it one of the most beautiful beaches of Tenerife, loved both by the locals and tourists. Many think it is even better than the more renowned such as Los Cristianos and Las Americas. It depends on your personal tastes, but we have to admit that Las Teresitas is really wonderful!
It was created in 1973, bringing golden sand straight from the Sahara Desert. Playa de Las Teresitas is not a volcanic black sandy beach! Its golden sand and the palms which surround it, convey the appearance of a Caribbean beach. Las Teresitas is the largest beach of the island, as it is 1300 meters long and 80 meters wide. It offers a lot of services: beach umbrellas, beach loungers, bathing huts and showers, bars and restaurants, first aid service and pathways for people with a disability.
There are many chiringuitos and restaurants on the spacious sandy shore where you can also sunbathe, play beach volley, bocce, take part in yoga courses and do aerobics, or you can rent a pedalo or go snorkelling. This is the ideal place for seaside tourism, as it offers from the most peaceful to the most animated of activities. The beach of Las Teresitas offers economic solutions and excellent services. There is also a free parking space adjacent the beach! You cannot miss this gorgeous beach if you are on holiday in Tenerife!
Where it is located
Las Teresitas is renowned for the warm temperature of its water. Tenerife and all the Canary Islands in general offer a mild climate which, along the coastline, is never cold, even in winter. In Las Teresitas the water temperature is slightly warmer than in the rest of the island thanks to the artificial barriers built to keep away the oceanic currents and prevent the waves from invading the area. This is the reason why its water is always calm and warm. This beach is loved by families with children, elderly people and those who are looking for peace and tranquillity. It feels like being on a Caribbean beach!
How to get to Las Teresitas
This urban beach is easy to reach, both on foot and by car or bus since it is located next to the village of San Andrés. Obviously, you can get there by sea too.
What to do
Close to the beach, in San Andrés, are many bars and traditional restaurants where you will match a beautiful day spent on the beach with a fantastic typical food experience. We highly recommend you go and visit the Fishermen’s Society. It can be found in the charming, picturesque village of San Andrés, which is very close to the beach. It offers its visitors the typical atmosphere of the Canary Islands together with interesting monuments such as the castle and archaeological finds dating back to the time of the Guanci, the original inhabitants of the islands.
Las Teresitas: hotels and restaurants
There are many restaurants and hotels both along the sandy shore and the area adjacent the beach. The Tenerife Hotel is the closest. It is a high-level hotel facility, facing the ocean, which offers its guests bungalows surrounded by a very long and lush 5000m2 tropical garden.
It offers 3 seawater pools, one of which is natural and situated in front of the beach, 2 bars, a restaurant, a disco, an amusement arcade with DL, a lecture theatre and a conference hall. This is the best choice if you want to fully enjoy the wonderful beach of Las Teresitas and stay nearby.
We highly recommend you visit this wonderful place. You will write it at the top of your “to visit list”!
